History of Myanmar Department

Department of Myanmar was established in 1982 (Shwebo College). And then it has offered undergrate programme since 1999 and now offering postgraduate programme as well. The former heads of the department were U Soe Win, Daw Shein Pai, Daw Win Win, U Aung Zaw, Daw Htar Htar Ei, U Mya Aye, U Moe Ye, Daw Win Win, Daw Khin Khin Thi, Daw Khin Myint Myint, U Mya Aye, Dr Cho Mar Lar, Dr Sanda Soe and Dr Khin Moe Moe.

Dr Khin Mar Htoo is the current professor and head of the department of Myanmar.
